Hello! If the theme of Fatherhood is triggering to you for whatever reason, we'd recommend you skip to another of our blog posts - take your pick from our archives here.
Father's Day is coming up on the 16th of June, and this year we're determined to do our darling Dads proud and get something a little bit more special than the usual badly wrapped pair of socks and a garage-bought card (sorry Dad).
We've asked around to see what it is that Dads far and wide are hoping for, and have compiled a list of ideas for you to mull over so that this Father's Day, you can surprise the Dads in your life with some top treats that they truly deserve.
You can also take a look at our curated Father's Day Gift List where we've brought together a collection of handmade items that are a little bit different from the usual Dad gifts. And just pop a note in as you order to ask for your selection to go out gift-wrapped and ready to impress.
FOR THE ABOUT-TO-BE DADS
If you're buying for a Dad-To-Be or a very new Father then the book 'How to Be a Dad: The Ultimate Guide to Pregnancy, Birth & Dirty Nappies' from Dr Oscar Duke is just the ticket.
It's the first Doctor written guide to becoming a Dad and takes the reader from conception to caring for his newborn baby, tackling the questions he might have been too afraid to ask and offering up a couple of pointers he might not have thought of to help him get to grips with Fatherhood. It's full of genuine empathetic tips on how to develop into the overwhelming role of Dad with confidence and we'll be buying one for all our parenting pals to help them on their journey.
You can pre-order it now on Amazon here - it's due to be released on 13th June just in time for Father's Day.
FOR THE NEW DADS
From what we've heard, being a new Dad is an exhausting and exhilarating task. And if it's Dad's first Father's Day, what a great excuse to show him how much he contributes to the family unit and how you absolutely couldn't get through this crazy journey without him by showering him with some thoughtful treats, gifts and promises.
Check with Dad in advance if you taking the baby out for the afternoon so that he can go and play footie in the park, or head to the pub for a bit is what he really fancies, or if planning a little zoo outing for the family where you've packed his favourite food and booze for a picnic is what he would love. Every Dad is different, but the outcome of feeling appreciated and celebrated is always a winner.
Have you been meaning to create a little album of your favourite early snaps and memories with your newest family member for a while now? Well, now's your time to shine. The lovely people over at Papier are a dab hand at creating gorgeous photo books so get selecting your favourite photos and drop them into one of their slick templates. It will be a gift that is cherished forever.
We're really into these personalised leather card holders from Create Gift Love with a little snap of your family inside. It's just the right amount of sentimental and means he can play the proud Dad card with ease when he's out and about and itching to show a little snap.
And remember, with a New Born you've really got the card design assets on your doorstep. Pop some paint on those little feet and get creative on colourful card, or print out a few photos of the two of them together and create a little montage. The more handmade looking the better.
FOR THE DAD ON YOUR PARENTING TEAM
I don't know many Dads who wouldn't appreciate an uninterrupted lie-in followed by a cooked breakfast with the papers. Best served with a hangover that you've agreed in advance and will protect from screams and playtime until at least midday.
Gift him some of our genuine leather Moroccan Babouche Slippers so he can put his feet up in style well into the afternoon. Available in both black and tan, each pair is handmade in Morocco by artisans using traditional methods and are super soft and supple. They are a unique twist on the usual socks and slippers Dads are so often gifted but just as comfy and useful.
A framed photo of your family unit for his desk or bedside table is a real winner and combines the Father's Day feels with a gift that keeps on giving throughout the year. Our Loop Photo Frames are available in blue, orange or yellow - ready to frame your most fantastic photo.
In terms of a card - get those little artists to flex their creative muscles over a dedicated crafternoon drawing a portrait of Dad or writing a poem about him.
This is also a great opportunity to re-stock the fridge with his favourite beers and order him in a take-away that can be eaten in peace in front of whatever film or match they fancy with the promise of no interruptions or complaints.
FOR YOUR DAD
As you grow older, and life gets more complicated, the gift of quality time bestowed on your Dad is the best of all. Maybe book a pub lunch together where you can properly catch up over a bottle of red wine.
Or if you won't be able to get together this year, you could put aside a couple of hours for a really good Skype call and surprise him with some sweet treats from the Biscuiteers Father's Day Collection in the post. We wait for absolutely any excuse to send out Biscuiteers biscuits, the designs are incredible and although they look too good to eat, they are also delicious so worth the nibble.
If you think Dad will be waiting to receive his annual sock stash then maybe mix it up with a colourful collection from Happy Socks - they have a Father's Day set in various playful handmade drawing designs which would definitely cheer up the old sock drawer.
