Small Business Product Styling - Callie Pettigrew for Postcards Home

Last Summer we moved our offices from leafy North London to the bohemian North Laine of Brighton, and we've been blown away by how welcoming the creative community down here has been. Brighton is jam-packed with interesting small businesses, and the sense of collaboration and cheerleading of fellow founders is fantastic.

We were already part of a (then) Brighton-based female founder collective called One Girl Band when we were based in London, run by the lovely Lola Hoad, but when we came down to Brighton we got to meet in person some of the small business owners from OGB that we'd been chatting with online, comparing small business notes with and partnering with on marketing campaigns. When you're a small business, surrounding yourself with people who are in the same boat as you, and really get what you're trying to achieve makes all the difference to your levels of motivation and enjoyment of the day-to-day running of your business.

In fact, if you're a self-identifying female founder looking for some encouragement, a sense of community and a hefty whack of down-to-earth chat about self-employment, then the One Girl Band Podcast is a great place to get your weekly dose of inspiration.

One Girl Band Coffee Morning for Female Founders

It was at one of the One Girl Band small business meet-ups that we met Interior, Product and Event Stylist Callie Pettigrew and got chatting about how important good product photography is for indie retail businesses.

When you've curated the perfect range of products in your online shop, you really want to show them off on your website so that your lovely customers have an easy job working out what they want to purchase, and the quality and details they can expect. But with the number of tasks every online shop owner needs to achieve to get a product live on their website, the all-important photography can sometimes get forgotten and you end up having to settle for images you know don't do the products justice.

That's why we've always found that outsourcing product photography to the experts is a great investment, so we were thrilled to meet Callie with her exceptional eye for product styling.

Flash forward a month and Callie has styled a capsule collection of our products and we are thrilled with the results. Take a look at the images below and how her styling has brought out all the personality of our best-selling products!

We love seeing our products come to life in these images - especially the glorious grain of the organic tagua in the earrings of our new Deep Blue collection, it really shows the quality and craftsmanship of each piece.

Every item we sell at Postcards Home has been handmade by an independent global designer, and to see their work in different contexts and with the details they have worked so hard to achieve being celebrated is just what they deserve. Products handmade with love, styled with love and photographed with love - now that's a creative collaboration.
