Throw Your Arms Around the World At Christmas Time

Posted on

So this is Christmas, and hopefully you've done all the tree-trimming, present-wrapping and cake-baking you intended to do this year. If you haven't; don't worry, we get yet another chance next year to make it right. So if you've set the bar low this Christmas, good on you, you've plenty of room to up the seasonal stakes in 2017. Very well played.

As we wind down, we've been looking back over what a great year 2016 has been for Postcards Home. We've started working with even more independent designers from London to Lima, launched new textiles, stationery and jewellery ranges, and joined forces with some very inspiring bloggers and small businesses to spread the word about shopping small - our global gang has never felt wider.

We feel so lucky to work with a team of talented, honest and hilarious people, and hope that our customers are proud to be part of that global chain of creative collaboration. Here's just a couple of our highlights this year:

Postcards Home 2016

But let's face it, 2016 hasn't been an easy year for so many people, and the world has started to feel like a bit of a stranger these days. Which is why, we feel, there has never been a better time to throw your arms around the world, and connect with likeminded people from different cultures to listen, learn and be inspired by the world we live in.

Global design in 2016 has been massively charged by natural patterns, and homes have been filled with outside elements to bring a balance to our technology-fuelled lives. The Pantone Colour of The Year for 2017, 'Greenery', takes this one step further - it's all about fresh beginnings, getting close to the world we live in and feeling energised.

With that in mind our travel-inspired cocktail and canapé from caterer and food blogger Emily Eats this week is inspired by the relaxing and rejuvenating steaming onsens of Japan, and we are feeling the instant zing.

Restore some balance with Emily's "Merry Making" Matcha Margaritas and Sesame Seared Tuna and Miso Dipping Sauce - a true tonic to the yearly overload of festive fizz and rich food. You can follow the recipes here and watch her gloriously giggly vlog.
