Sarah Illenberger is a multi-disciplinary artist based in Berlin who has a magnificent way of taking everyday items and making them extraordinary.
Her new series, Wonderplants, is a stunning collection of plant photography where botanical leaves have been decorated with brightly coloured stickers creating lines and shapes on the natural surface. Think foliage with face paint, used by Peter Pan's Lost Boys in Neverland.
The series was created on a six week trip to Portugal and Sarah used only materials found in her local stationery and DIY shops. Sarah says the patterns on the leaves were inspired 'by Portuguese tiles and African fabrics' which makes the series feel both reassuringly graphic and exotically tribal.
Shot using punchy background colour and playful shadows this is my favourite series from Sarah yet.
